How to Build a Secret CIWS Setup
In this guide, I'll walk through how to cleanly build and troubleshoot a secret Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) setup
1. Choose Your Build Method
You can build your setup using one of two clean configurations:
The Indirect Fire Shelter & Bunker Method: Place an indirect fire shelter and a bunker right next to each other. Leave the Hesco barriers inside the indirect shelter intact—this makes the process much easier.
The Three-Bunker Method: A more compact and tiny alternative that gives you a full 360-degree layout, though it requires precise placement.
2. Positioning the CIWS Control Panel
Place a hedgehog or Hesco barrier down to help with alignment.
Position the CIWS with the control panel facing toward you, sitting slightly over the midline between the structures.
Place a second bunker on top in the correct order.
While building, make sure you are lowered, looking slightly left of the box/panel, and pointing toward the upper-left side rather than staring straight at the roof.
3. Troubleshooting "Can't Place on Surface" Errors
If you run into placement errors, try these fixes:
Add Room: Place Hesco barriers on the side of the structure to give the area more breathing room before attempting placement again.
Adjust Alignment: Move the CIWS slightly further down over the midline.
The "Northwest" Trick: If all else fails, try orienting your build facing northwest (around 300 degrees), which helps bypass placement glitches.
