Short optics run a fixed 1.2x with no zeroing. Medium optics are magnified and zeroable. Sights displayed a $0 price in the alpha build. That was a display fault.

Attachments

What attachments actually change

WARDOGS currently exposes two functional attachment slots:

  • Optic
  • Magazine

Two additional slots appear in the menu but have never been opened in any observed build. This page documents the two active ones; the others will be added when they exist in-game.

Optics: two honest categories

Optics divide cleanly into short and medium, and they serve different jobs.

Short optics

  • Fixed 1.2×
  • No zeroing
  • They provide a sight picture, not magnification
  • Their purpose is to make close-range work faster and more confident

Medium optics

  • Magnified
  • Zeroable to a range
  • They turn long-range shooting into a calculation instead of a guess

Choosing between them is really choosing your engagement distance. There is no optic that is good at both close and far.

Magazines: capacity costs space and weight

Magazine upgrades follow one rule: more rounds cost more grid.

A drum carries more ammunition than a standard magazine, but it also consumes proportionally more pack space — and pack space is the binding constraint in WARDOGS. Extra rounds only matter if the alternative was running dry mid-fight. If you were not going to reload under pressure, you paid grid for nothing.

Before buying capacity, count how often you actually reload while being shot at.

Calibre synergy: STANAG is the quiet advantage

STANAG magazines work across all 5.56×45mm platforms. That single fact is a quiet argument for building a loadout around 5.56:

  • One set of magazines feeds multiple weapons
  • You buy fewer mags
  • You pack fewer shapes
  • Your logistics simplify themselves

Nothing else in the attachment list offers cross-platform value like this.
